The 2018 Jeanneau Prestige 500 being valued, ashore
Value starts on board, not at a desk: engine hours are read from the ECU, the hull with a moisture meter

METHOD

Value in three steps

The report's "Valuation Methodology" item sets out these three steps and the assumptions. The currency is EUR; USD listings are used for indicative purposes only and the exchange rate assumption is stated.

  1. 01

    Comparable analysis

Same model, years 2016-2019: nine live listings and sold/pending records. A 5-10% discount is applied in moving from listing price to completed sale.

  2. 02

    Condition adjustment

The cost of rectifying the findings is deducted; low engine hours, a clean osmosis scan and working added equipment are added. There are no priority "A" findings on this vessel.

  3. 03

    Age-price cross-check

As the new list price could not be verified from a primary source, depreciation is checked against the model's 2016 → 2019 listing price curve.

For an insurance value the replacement cost should be requested separately. This section is a surveyor's opinion; it does not substitute for a broker's price recommendation or a formal valuation.

Machinery — the largest component of value; 393 hours, verified from the ECU
Underwater hull overview, on chocks
Underwater hull — clean osmosis scan; antifouling and anodes among the deducted items

Frequently asked questions

About this sample

Why is the value a range rather than a single figure?

Most comparables are asking prices; achieved sale prices are rarely published, and the exchange rate, the VAT status and who carries out the repairs all change the result. A range shows this uncertainty openly, and the "most probable value" is the starting point for negotiation. In this sample the range is €520,000-580,000 and the most probable value €550,000.

Where do the comparables come from?

Listings for the same model and the years 2016-2019 seen live on 10 September 2026: YachtWorld, yachtall.com, Band of Boats, iNautia. The source and access date are given on every row; sources that could not be searched (sahibinden.com, for example) are stated in the report. "Sold" records without a price are not put in the table and are noted only as evidence of market movement.

How is the condition adjustment calculated?

The cost of rectifying the category A and B findings from the survey is deducted as a range based on yard and service prices in Turkey; low engine hours, a clean osmosis scan and working added equipment are added. The amounts are written in the report as a table, so that buyer and seller can see how much each item moves the value.

Is this report accepted by a bank or an insurer?

It can be presented as an independent surveyor's opinion; for an insurance value the replacement cost is requested separately. The report does not examine VAT, title or liens; these are verified from documents. In the sample these limitations are stated in the "Valuation Conclusions" item.
