Should the sea trial be arranged separately from the survey?
It is not a separate exercise; it is the second half of the same survey. The inspection ashore establishes what to look for and the sea trial confirms it under load. Running them in the wrong order makes it unclear which finding came from where.
Why it works this way
This is also why we price the sea trial and the engine sea trial together — they cannot sensibly be separated. A trial without engine data logged under load leaves the most expensive component unmeasured.
