Do I need to be aboard during the survey?
Not required, but useful — particularly if you want to discuss the first findings on the spot. If you cannot attend, the process is reported with photographs and by telephone, and a detailed review conversation follows the report in any case.
Why it works this way
Seeing a finding where it sits is different from reading the same sentence on paper, and the gap widens with engine room and hull findings. Many buyers make better decisions after twenty minutes in the engine room than after an hour with the report.
