What are the known weak points when buying a used Hunter?
Three areas get marked specifically: fatigue cracking at the forestay attachments on the B&R rig, ageing in the aft cabin underwater discharge hoses, and galvanic corrosion at the Selden mast step. On pre-2000 models leaking keel bolts are also common.
Why it works this way
A known weak point is a defect that recurs by design or production method rather than by chance; knowing them shortens the survey and turns straight into a negotiating position.
