How is fuel consumption and cost calculated for a delivery?
The calculation is made at economical revs rather than cruising speed: raising speed by ten per cent raises consumption by considerably more, and over a long route that becomes real money. Current and wind then move the real figure outside the calculation.
Why it works this way
A realistic average and a weather allowance are therefore built into the budget from the start rather than added afterwards.
