How is a preliminary agreement drawn up?
The purpose of a preliminary agreement is not to reserve the boat but to put the buyer’s withdrawal conditions in writing. Survey condition, timescale, delivery condition and inventory are the essentials.
Why it works this way
Without those clauses a deposit may be unrecoverable even when the survey finds something serious — which is precisely the situation the agreement exists to prevent.
