How do you check whether a boat carries a mortgage?
A mortgage does not appear in a physical inspection; only a registry search reveals it, and that search must be completed before any payment.
Why it works this way
Transfer of a mortgaged boat cannot complete without the lender’s consent, which is why the records search runs on the same timetable as the survey.
